During 2018 the band was proud to receive the Duke of York Community Initiative2019 Pol 04A Logo[16218] Award for all our activities within the communities of South Yorkshire. Ian Duffy our Treasurer and one of the longest serving members received the award from Prince Andrew at Sheffield Cathedral.

The kilt Ian is wearing is the ‘City of Sheffield’ tartan, this was designed in 2003 with the assistance of Strathmore Woolen Mill, Scotland. The band wears it at all the events we play at.

Resplendent in our tartan the band provides a stirring spectacle whilst playing on the march or in a circle. The selection of music includes slow and quick marches, moving airs, strathspeys and reels.

The members of the band mainly live in the Yorkshire/Derbyshire area and some travel from even further afield as Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. We also have former members of the band living in Scotland and Canada who regularly support our trips, such is the enthusiasm. The band welcomes visiting players of all levels and offers a particularly warm welcome to children, young people and student players from abroad during their time in the UK.
