October 30th 2021 – Rotherham United vs Sunderland, Veterans day parade

We attended the New York Stadium for the Rotherham United vs Sunderland match to take part in the Veterans Parade and Remembrance Ceremony. A great day to support our veterans. All went well until the pitch sprinklers were switched on as we were playing on the pitch, serves us right for celebrating that we missed the rain!

October 13th 2021 Barnsley Fire Station

The band sent members to play at the opening of the new fire station in Barnsley, it is a spectacular building which will serve them well. The station was opened by the Chief Fire Officer Alex Johnson and Gavin Walker.

October 3rd 2021 Miners Remembrance Ceremony at Armthorpe, Doncaster

The band attended the Miners Remembrance Ceremony at Armthorpe and played at the gala following the ceremony. It was a great day and well done to the organisers for a well run event. Our potential new recruit was quite tall and will need an extra long kilt if he decides to join us!!

July 28th 2021 – 95th Birthday celebration for former band member – Sheffield

At the request of his family we made a surprise visit to Jim Hughes, one of our former drummers. It was his 95th Birthday, we sneaked in to play for him and the residents at the care home where he is living. What a fantastic afternoon, he thoroughly enjoyed us being there, Jim took part in our performance, including a short piece of marching. Thanks to the care home staff who helped with the surprise and also for processing our Covid – 19 tests on entry. The tune we played was Highland Laddie, salute to the Chieftain, happy birthday Jim from all the band.

June 18th 2021 Sir Thomas Wharton Academy – Edlington

Well done to Robbie Conroy, one of our pipers, who helped the teachers at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy prepare the year 10 students for their exam on Macbeth quotes. I am sure the sound of the pipes playing helped them.

June 12th 2021 RBL Club Edlington – Band practice

Saturday, June the 12th and the band finally got together for a ‘face to face’ practice. Thank you to the RBL Club at Edlington for allowing us to use their premises, as you will see from below, everyone had a great time.

Due to Covid-19 guidelines, the band had been unable to get together as a group to practice, however this has now changed and we have begun band practices from the 12th June 2021. The Band would like to thank the NHS and Keyworkers who have worked so hard over the previous year.
