How we use your information

The City of Sheffield Pipe Band takes the privacy of its members seriously. Personal information submitted through this form will be used for the legitimate administration and operation of the Band and your membership. This includes maintaining membership records, communicating rehearsal, performance and event information, organising Band activities, administering subscriptions and other membership matters, and contacting you where reasonably necessary in connection with your membership.

Your information will not be sold or provided to third parties for commercial marketing and will not be used for unrelated direct marketing.

Lawful basis

The Band processes information necessary to administer your membership on the basis of its legitimate interests in maintaining and operating the Band and communicating with its members.

If you choose to include contact details in the Internal Band Directory, those details will be made available in accordance with the preference you select above.

Security and retention

Membership information will be kept securely. Access will be limited to the Band Secretary and other authorised Band officers where reasonably necessary for Band administration.

Your membership information will normally be retained for the duration of your membership. When your membership ends, information that is no longer required will normally be securely deleted within 12 months, except where particular records need to be retained for legal, financial, insurance, safeguarding or other legitimate administrative purposes.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law, depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to request access to your personal information; have inaccurate information corrected; request erasure or restriction in certain circumstances; and object to certain processing.

You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

You may change your Internal Band Directory preference at any time by contacting the Band Secretary.

If you have concerns about how your personal information is handled, you also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
